Doodles, known for its success on the Ethereum blockchain, is getting ready to launch its follow-up series, Doodles 2, on the Flow network
Doodles has been on a mission recently — acquiring reward-winning animation studio Golden Wolf and onboarding three new talents to its leadership team.
Now, the team behind the cute PFP characters aims to ascend to great heights. It will be launching its new collection on the Flow blockchain, despite its first batch of NFTs being highly successful on Ethereum.
Quick Take:
- Doodles’ follow-up series, Doodles 2, will not be on the Ethereum blockchain.
- Instead, Doodles 2 will launch on Flow, to enjoy the network’s nonexistent gas fees.
- Flow’s upcoming Doodles collectibles will mostly focus on customization perks.
Why the Change of Heart (Blockchain), Doodles?
Doodles are currently one of the world’s most prominent Ethereum NFT projects. The NFT collectibles are famous for showcasing colorful profile picture (PFP) digital assets with more than $550 million in trading volume. Of course, for also having Pharrell Williams on board as Chief Brand Officer.
In June 2022, at NFT NYC, the creators of these famous PFP NFTs revealed that they would add Doodles 2 to a different blockchain platform, like Solana or Polygon. The upcoming move to Flow has come as a surprise.
This change of heart (I mean blockchain) marks the first time any OG NFT project has decided to change from using Ethereum to Flow. Although, Dapper Labs’ network has recently seen a lot of NFT activity, making it less of a bizarre choice.
Doodles believe the Flow launch will “mark the start of a future of strong cross-interoperability with Ethereum.” Another critical reason for using Flow instead of Ethereum includes “nonexistent” gas fees. The Ethereum Merge clearly hasn’t achieved what it initially set out to do.
However, it’s important to note that the NFT project’s core collection, Doodles, will still stay on the Ethereum network nevertheless.
What’s Next? Insights Into Doodles 2
Doodles is excited to release its follow-up collection, Doodles 2, in the near future.
This upcoming series will consist of millions of NFTs rather than 10,000 cute avatars like its first, much-loved collection.
These new collectibles are looking to establish a sense of identity. For example, collectors will be able to customize their characters’ hairstyles, emotions, apparel, accessories, gadgets, etc. The changes will then be showable on social media channels and other ecosystems alike.
All wearables released during this period will also come with a Doodles 2 Beta Pass, giving full access to a private beta of the Doodle creation tool.
It’s clear that the Doodles team is doing all possible to boost its Web3 brand to the very top in 2023.
Let’s hope these cute and customizable new NFTs are within reach and purchasable on the Flow blockchain soon.
