‘hi’, in association with MasterCard, launches a customizable debit card. On these hi debit cards, members can imprint the image of their favorite NFT. Only a few NFT collections are currently viable for creating the cards. They include CryptoPunks, Moonbirds, Goblins, Bored Apes, and Azukis.
Quick Take:
- hi unveils an NFT customizable debit card, but only for MasterCard Gold members.
- The stylish debit card is available for MasterCard users in 24 EEA countries.
- These cards represent the user’s affinity with the crypto world and demonstrate which community they belong to.
Taking Crypto to Mainstream Banking
There are already several debit and credit cards out there, letting people deposit and withdraw cryptocurrencies. The hi and MasterCard partnership is taking a new turn by allowing people to flex and demonstrate their association with the crypto space. The customization is a simple yet powerful move to garner people’s attention.
The customizable card is only available for Gold members, and these members can use the card across 90 million locations where MasterCard is acceptable.
The Co-founder of hi, Sean Rach, says, “Not only do the NFT cards look amazing, this is a great way for people to show which online community they belong to, but in the real world.” The flexibility to spend fiat, stablecoins, or other cryptos, combined with attractive financial and lifestyle rewards, makes us confident that our card is a game-changer in the market.”
The members can print the image of the NFTs they own on the debit card. At present, the hi debit card has six variants, and each variant has different benefits. Anyone can become a member of hi by taking a membership plan and staking a native token equivalent to €10.
Spend Fiat, Crypto, and Stablecoins with the hi Debit Card
With the hi membership and debit card, the users can spend the deposited fiat and cryptocurrencies at the eligible stores. Moreover, the hi card generates a 1% to 10% return on every spend. It also provides rebates on up to 20 subscriptions.
The users can instantly recharge the hi debit card with funds sent via SEPA or FPS in Euros and British pounds.
MasterCard is also eager to hop on the crypto trend. For this association, the Senior Vice President of MasterCard, Christian Rau, said, “As consumer interest in crypto and NFTs continues to grow, we are committed to making them an accessible payment choice for the communities who wish to use them. We are proud to be working with hi to continue to drive innovation in the market and enable these customizable cards together with the safety and security you’d expect from MasterCard.”
However, for every image that a user wants to attach to the debit cards, they need to satisfy Mastercard’s requirements.
