This week, MoonieNFT, an NFT-backed GameFi Platform announce its integration with Chainlink VRF on Polygon.
The announcement, which was first posted via a Medium post highlights an important technological improvement to the MoonieNFT ecosystem.
The team suggests the primary usage of the Chainlink VRF is to provide an auditable and tamper-proof source of randomness needed to power Moonchests, an important feature of the MoonieNFT ecosystem. Moonchests give users random NFTs that can be used within the GameFi ecosystem.
According to the announcement:
Ultimately this creates a more exciting and transparent user experience, as players now have high assurances of an equitable rare NFT distribution.
This integration means added security and assurance that Moonie ecosystem members are participating in a fair and equitable experience.
To acquire a Moonie NFT, users must purchase a Moonchest using the company’s native token.
What is MoonieNFT?
MoonieNFT is a GameFi Platform that provides 100% usable NFTs in a gamified DeFi ecosystem. The Moonie ecosystem offers a well-developed storyline and play-to-earn functionality. Additionally, Moonie’s Space Missions feature allows users to stake their NFT to earn rewards.
At the time of publication, Moonie has approximately 25,000 players according to the website.
What is Chainlink WRF?
Chainlink VRF is a provably fair and verifiably random number generator. The use of VRF allows smart contracts to securely access random values, an important function for Web3-based games.
Chainlink VRF uses multiple factors, namely undefined block data to generate a random number and a cryptographic proof. Both of these components are necessary to be accepted by the system, thus guaranteeing tamper-proof randomness.
