Xiaomi’s Journey Into the Metaverse
One of the last global corporations to explore Web3 is Chinese tech giant Xiaomi—the manufacturer of consumer electrics, software, and other electronic items.
Currently, Xiaomi is investing in its new 3D metaverse, Puffverse, which will be “vast, colorful, and complete with games and NFT-related rewards.”
As leading experts in Web2, they have a lot to live up to in the development stage. Thus, the tech giant partners with YAHAHA, Mirana, and Unity for extra support.
The metaverse will include five cute playable “Puff” characters—Patty, Claude, Ashe, Bill Duck and Pop—all of which already exist for the firm’s game PuffGo, and have unique characteristics and traits.
PuffGo—a skill-to-earn “party game—was launched last month (September 22), to give users a taste of what to expect from the upcoming metaverse—like generous rewards and exciting activities.
Users can acquire Puff characters as NFTs on PuffGo events, where the Xiaomi team distributes Puff NFTs as free rewards. Additionally, those lucky enough to win a free Puff NFT will gain exclusive privileges in Puffverse, usable for all gaming scenarios.
PuffGo and Puffverse are both available to play socially or competitively through TVs, mobile, virtual reality headsets, and more.
Similar to PuffGo, Puffverse will also launch several Web3 projects in the future, named PuffTown and PuffLand.
