NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — 2B3D, a leading Web3 gaming and technology company pioneering blockchain-powered entertainment and mental wellness innovation, announced today that two-time Super Bowl champion Anthony B. Smith has joined as Vice President of 2B3D and team manager of the Methuselah Mythics.
The Methuselah Mythics are one of the virtual teams competing in Astro Bowl, 2B3D’s groundbreaking new sports gaming franchise blending traditional competition with next-generation technology.
Smith will be joined in the ActionVerse by Jamie Winborn, who will serve as team manager of the WASP 12 Miners, and Julius Williams, who will manage the Aquarius Trappers.
Together, the trio brings a wealth of professional athletic experience to Astro Bowl, helping to shape 2B3D’s vision of an immersive, competitive universe that merges esports, Web3 innovation, and community engagement.
“I’m extremely excited to head the WASP-12 Miners,” said Winborn, best known for his time with the San Francisco 49ers, talking about his new role as team manager of a science fiction football team in AstroBowl.
“Much like the style of player I was in the NFL, we will bring stinging competition to the gridiron with groundbreaking skills that will be unmatched! Get ready to be stung by the WASP-12 Miners!”
Smith, best known for his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers, was first announced as Vice President of 2B3D on The Chris Voss Show, during a recent podcast episode titled “Web3 Gaming and Veteran Support Innovations with Robert Bell, CEO of 2B3D, Inc.”, now available on YouTube.
“My whole life has been about pushing boundaries—on the field, in business, and in the community,” said Smith. “2B3D is doing something different. It’s not just a game, it’s a movement. We’re building something that connects people, challenges them, and changes lives. That’s the kind of team I want to be part of.”
Smith brings his passion for performance, leadership, and mentorship to a new frontier, combining the adrenaline of competitive football with the limitless potential of immersive Web3 gaming.
“Anthony’s energy, discipline, and commitment to impact go far beyond the football field,” said Bell, CEO and co-founder of 2B3D.
“We’re thrilled to welcome him to 2B3D, where he’ll help lead one of our most legendary teams in Astro Bowl and shape the future of sports in the ActionVerse.”
Beyond his professional career, Smith is also co-founder of The Battle of the Trenches Foundation (BOTF), a nonprofit helping at-risk youth through mentorship, character building, and NFL-style athletic and life skills training.
Founded in 2015, BOTF empowers underserved communities through academic support, elite coaching, and the values of teamwork, perseverance, and accountability.
“We don’t claim to be the biggest, fastest, strongest or smartest in the ActionVerse,” said Williams, best known for his time with the Jacksonville Panthers, speaking about his new role as team manager of the Aquarius Trappers.
“But we out here in 2B3D and all about that action. It’s dangerous in Aquarius, we trap until there’s nothing left. You ever seen a fish out of water? Watch out for the traps and keep your head on a swivel.”
More announcements to come on 2B3D’s official podcast, Into the ActionVerse, hosted by Bell, exploring the intersection of action sports, immersive gaming, and social impact through the lens of the company’s metaverse ecosystem, the ActionVerse.
