The CEO of the renowned virtual universe game Roblox wants NFTs to move across multiple platforms. He shared his views in an interview after the Q3 2023 earnings call for Roblox. Baszucki believes that influencers play a key role in promoting the adoption and use of NFTs.
He was asked if his platform’s Robux currency could ever be used outside of Roblox and if NFTs could ever be moved out of the platform. To this question, Baszucki said,
“There’s a bit of a dream here about objects and NFTs moving from platform to platform.”
The founder of Roblox further gave an example of a hypothetical situation, stating that he envisions A-list celebrities like Elton John could sign up on his platform and sell digital collectibles and NFTs like Capes for charity.
These NFTs would go off the platform to be sold in other marketplaces. He said that such top celebrities and brands like Nike could make digital items and have control over the process. Their influence could prove to be vital for the growth and expansion of NFTs among consumers while increasing their overall usability.
Roblox Post Great Numbers – Can it Transform the NFT World?
Roblox is a huge platform in the NFT space with an extensive reach among youth. As per the Q3 earnings report, daily active users of the platform are up by a prominent 20% in comparison with last year’s November.
Moreover, the game has noticed that over 70 million people spend an average of 2.5 hours on the platform. Roblox also launched Limiteds earlier this year to help buyers resell their wearable products. The reselling would give a 10% royalty fee back to the creator.
Therefore, it is evident that Roblox is ensuring more innovation in the NFT space. The NFT sales volume has also seen a sharp increase which has probably urged Roblox and its CEO to show more interest towards NFTs. As per reports, BAYC has posted a trading volume of over $66.7 million.
On the other hand, Robux is already being used outside of the platform by third-party sites. They are using the currency for gambling but Roblox has condemned such practices. However, this indicates that the platform’s currency can be used across platforms if ample measures are taken.
It seems that the platform and its leadership are open to the introduction of interoperable NFTs and digital platforms but there is no tactical shift in the platform’s policies so far.
